About Ujima
Ujima Rochester/Ujima Atlanta, Inc. is a 501(c)3 grassroots organization committed to making a positive difference in the lives of at-risk-youth and their families, while helping add civility to the overall community.
Our mission is: To provide integrated and multidisciplinary services that respond to the needs of youth and their families through intensive and quality programs that promote pro-social behavior and contributes to public safety.
Ujima Rochester/Ujima Atlanta, Inc. offers pro-social development services for youth and families in the areas of cultural-trauma healing, cultural education, alternatives to placement, juvenile reentry, and emergency service referrals for runaway/ homeless youth population.
YOUTH TARGET POPULATION
Our Team
Ujima Rochester/Ujima Atlanta targets youth ages 9-21 who are deemed at risk, hard-to-reach, or currently involved in gangs and/or the juvenile justice system, and who either are voluntarily or mandated participants in the program.
Youth of all socioeconomic, racial and ethnic backgrounds are eligible for the program.
The Leadership & Social Development Program (LSDP) was established to help young men and women address key issues they face during their stages of adolescence and will continue to face as they attain adulthood. The LSDP will support the Youth in developing a value system that will aid them in making positive choices regarding character building, education, relationships and personal health. These goals will be reached by following a curriculum that incorporates a series of cultural, academic, physical health, historical reenactments, and social activities.

These principles are centered on issues such as education, anti-violence, sexuality, critical thinking, economics, teamwork, history, and much more.
